What We Collect
Origin Quest collects the following information to provide and improve the assessment experience:
Assessment Answers
Your responses to all personality assessment questions are collected and stored in your browser's local storage. These responses are used to generate your personality profile and results.
Display Name & Email
When you choose to share your results, you may optionally provide a display name and email address. These are collected to enable the share code functionality and are only used for that purpose.
Free-Text Responses
Any open-ended text responses you provide during the assessment are stored locally in your browser. These help personalize your results and may be used in aggregated, anonymized form to improve the tool.
Share Codes
If you use the share functionality, a unique share code is generated and stored on our servers to enable friends to view your results. This code links to your results data.
How We Store It
Data storage in Origin Quest is designed to prioritize your privacy and keep information on your device:
Browser Local Storage
Your assessment responses, answers, and freetext replies are stored in your browser's local storage by default. This means your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share your results.
Server Storage
If you enable the share code feature and provide an email, minimal data is sent to our servers to support sharing functionality. This includes your display name, email address, and a snapshot of your results. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
No Tracking Cookies
Origin Quest does not use cookies for tracking purposes. We do not use analytics services or third-party tracking scripts to monitor your behavior across the web.
Data Retention
Browser-stored data persists until you manually clear your browser's local storage. Server-stored data (for share codes) is retained as long as your share code remains active or until you request deletion.
How We Use It
Your data is used only for the following purposes:
Generating Your Results
Your assessment responses are processed to calculate your personality profile, RPG stats, traits, class archetype, and role recommendations.
Enabling Share Functionality
Your email and display name are used to create and manage share codes that allow friends to view your results with your permission.
Tool Improvement
Aggregated and anonymized data from freetext responses may be used to understand user patterns and improve the assessment experience. Individual responses are never identified or shared.
We Never Sell Your Data
Your personal information is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
We Never Use Your Data for Advertising
Origin Quest does not use your data to target you with personalized advertising or to build marketing profiles.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
Clear Browser Data
You can delete all locally stored assessment data by clearing your browser's local storage or cache. Most browsers provide an option to clear site data in their settings.
Delete Server Data
If you have created a share code and provided an email address, you can request deletion of your server-stored data by contacting us at support@youroriginstory.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Access Your Data
You can request a copy of your stored data by contacting us at support@youroriginstory.com.
Third-Party Services
Origin Quest may use the following third-party services:
Supabase (Optional)
If share code functionality is enabled, we use Supabase as a backend service to securely store and retrieve shared results. Supabase may have its own privacy policy; we encourage you to review it on their website.
Vercel (Hosting)
Origin Quest is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure. Vercel may collect standard web server logs and analytics. Please refer to Vercel's privacy policy for details.
Children's Privacy
Origin Quest is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information and terminate the child's account.
